solution for the Japanese market. This project was a collaborative effort with Naoki Shimada, a good friend, and a previous coworker. The brief was to redesign an existing device the company had recently acquired. Along with defining the industrial design and packaging, we were also responsible for branding, product name, and a startup guide. SolutionUto is a wireless backup photo storage device that connects to an external hard drive without a pricy subscription service. The photos transfer seamlessly from the user's devices onto Uto through wifi. With the accompanying smartphone app, the user can manage and access their pictures effortlessly. The project explored how classic eyewear archetypes could be reinterpreted through a more minimal and lifestyle-oriented perspective. Lucid, part of the collection, focused on evolving the traditional aviator silhouette through cleaner proportions, refined detailing, and a more contemporary expression suited for modern everyday wear. SolutionThe final result was Lucid — a minimal reinterpretation of the classic aviator that helped establish a more modern and cohesive identity for Vistoso eyewear. Released as part of the SS2018 collection in Seoul, the design combined the edge and confidence of Korean street fashion with restrained Scandinavian influences, resulting in a clean and timeless silhouette.
